Breadsall Priory Country Club with stunning grounds and excellent food accommodated the Association’s Annual Breakaway from Monday 14th to Wednesday 16th April.

Monday. The initial round of The John Roberts Trophy took place on the par 73 Moorland Course, which is exposed to weather conditions and provides a range of golf shots.

Despite the dry weather and light winds, the greens were hard and fast, but this does not deter Phil Blythin to be the leader on day 1 with Darren Edwards 2nd and Alan Tainty 3rd.

Tuesday. Day 2 of The John Robers Trophy was played on the Par 70   Championship Priory Course, which winds through rolling parkland which does require accurate drives and good second shots for some, or more shots for most of us to reach the green. The greens were tricky and fast.

The winner on day 2 was Andy Joinson with Darral Sargeant as runner up and 3rd Darren Edwards.

Day 3 of The John Roberts Trophy was held Wednesday at the par 70 Alsager Golf and Country Club. The course features tree-lined, rolling terrain with water hazards.

Despite the very cold and windy wintery day the winner of day three was Allan Beaven, second was Mike Holland on the count back, with Andy Joinson coming third.

On behalf of The Association, Allan Beaven thanked David Beeston, Captain of Alsager Golf Club for giving the Association a very warm welcome and for joining us for golf with the meal and presentation after. The Association’s IPP Captain Allan Beaven presented David with an Association Tie,

Last year’s defending champion Darren Edwards came close to retaining the trophy but was the runner up only to beaten on the countback, by Phil Blythin the eventual Winner of The John Roberts Trophy for 2025 with an excellent score of 101pts, with Ian Bradshaw 3rd and Andy Joinson 4th.
