Flintshire Past Captains are saying a fond farewell to a man once described as the cornerstone of the Association, Jim Illingworth who is leaving the area to go and live with his son, Gary and his family in Germany where Gary is a Golf Professional at a Club near Dusseldorf.

Jim's family committments didn't allow us to make a full scale presentation but, instead, we had a small presentation ceremony in Holywell GC when he was given the full range of Association clothing as a token of our appreciation of the tremendous help he has been to us all since the start of the Association in 1976.

Jim was Club Captain at Mold GC in 1974 and along with some like minded colleagues was instrumental in the formation of the Association when he was a prime mover in the formation of our Rules and Regulations which are still relevant today.  He served as Match Secretary from 1978 until taking over from Andy Newall as Secretary in 1983, a position he held until his retirement after 19 years in office in 2002.

Jim moved from Mold to Holywell in the late 1980's and members there nominated him as Association President in 1997 in recognition of his work over the years.

Since his retirement he has retained a keen interest in Association's activities and was always available to pass on help and advice when requested, and I know that all members will join me in wishing him a long and happy life with his family in Germany.

Danke Jim.
