The 37th Annual Dinner of our Association was held at 'The Springfield Hotel' on Friday 4th October when 95 of our Members enjoyed a great night full of Good Food, the odd drink (or several!) and great camerarderie.Neil Roberts the Captain of the Denbighshire Past Captains' Society proposed a toast to our Association, and then the highlight of the evening was provided by our Guest Speaker, the New Zealand R. L. legend, Robbie Hunter-Paul. Robbie, a really nice, unassuming man gave us an enlightening and humerous account of his life starting in the backwoods of North Island via Auckland before coming at the age of 18 to the UK where together with his brother, Henry, he joined the Bradford Bulls to enjoy a career of great success. He hung up his boots in 2011 and started work in the Marketing Department at Bradford before he was appointed as the CEO only last week (on the strength of being booked by us perhaps!!) After his talk which was enjoyed by all Robbie didn't 'take the money and run' but stayed around to chat to members signing autographs etc. Now our problem is to find a Speaker for next year to match him - all recommendations gratefully received and followed up!
